On June 26th, it will be three years since I crossed the Rainbow Bridge. In my memory, I would like all of you to do something for me.

Many of you called me a hero while I was alive and fighting all my ailments. Many of you made me into a superstar. Many of you still mourn my loss and think of me often, keeping my memory alive and my stardom in the light.

I want to ask you to do that for other kids as well.

I asked this of you all last year, and only 20 or so people responded. This year, I would like to see that doubled!

My challenge to you all is to pick a different shelter kid anywhere in the world and sponsor him or her for the year. Even if it is only $1 a month, please do this for me. Then I want you all to take the time to post to the FML or Ferret Aid list a little story about your kid and let the rest of us know about him/her.

Bring other kids into the spotlight and show them love the way you showed me and my mommie love when we needed it most. there are hundreds of shelters out there world wide and thousands of needy ferrets who will benefit from having their stories told. I ask you to do this in my name and remembering that all ferrets deserve a second chance.

my love and thanks to you all, Harley "Bug"

Lois and Tazzie
Dearest Harley,
I want to let you know that my mom is once again taking you up on your challenge! You were there for me when my legs went out and I had to start using the Tazzie Mobile. We were both physically challenged at the same time and both my mom and I drew alot of strength from you, and your momma was wonderful to my mom.

DOOKIN AND DANCIN AND WHOLE AGAIN!!
TAZZIE, MINUS HIS WHEELS!!!!

Dear Harley,
I am indeed taking you up on your challenge again. Your mom wants double the responses from last year so I am going to sponsor 2 ferrets this year. Rocky's Rescue and Shelter is the shelter of my choice and I'll be sponsoring both of them from there. Love and kisses to you Harley, you are STILL so loved and missed! Lois and Tazzie, who is of course, minus his wheels :-}

Fuzzies Mikette, Jillie, and Baby, USA
Sponsoring Meadow Soprano of the 24k shelter in the USA
Hey there Harley Bug! Fuzzie Mikette, Jillie, and Baby here. Our Mommy heard about your challenge. We thinks you is wonderful, and that your challenge is a beautiful thing. We knowed we wanted to do it right away! But we waiteds. We did not know who to sponser, so many great shelters with wonderful furkids. But then we saw CJ's post from the 24K shelter. We love her, Mommy thinks she's amazing that she helps so many with her own two human paws!

Sadly, we don't have much money from our fuzzie allowance (Mommy has lots of bigger bills from our medical care, she does what she can, but it's not much right now) but we each gets $1 a month and we want to spend it on Meadow Soprano at this special shelter, in honor of your challenge. We is gonna send CJ our $36 (Mommy is advancing us!) for Meadow Soprano (even though Mommy loves Annie Bones so much from her stories. Mommy is gonna have to do that on her own!). We chosed Meadow Soprano because of how much CJ loves her. Meadow has been through so much (she's paralyzed you know) but because of CJ she now knows love, comfort, safety, and joy. Among sweet Meadow's troubles is her incontinence. We know her care would be a lot of work for anyone, but especially for a busy shelter mom. But for CJ it is a labor of love, and each moment with Meadow is clearly treasured. We think that's pretty special!

We hope many humans sponser shelter fuzzies and tell their stories in honor of your challenge. We as fuzzies ourselves wanted (through your challenge) to choose a ferret that really reflected how much humans do for us. We loves humans so muches! CJ's love for Meadow Soprano and all her fuzzies there really touches us, and we hopes it inspires some more humans. Many dooks to you Harley! Mikette, Jillie, and Baby PS Mommy wants to know if your shelter crew down below got their ferret tube replaced yet. That was just terribles, whats wrong with 100 or so fix-it thingees?! Please tell my Mommy if they needs one. We whispered to her how important it is and she understands!

OK ... we're up for the challenge. I've decided to give up my TimHorton's Tea each morning so that I can send a monthly donation to my favorite shelter and it's hard working "Mom's" at FAST. Anyone else out there willing to forego a trip to the coffee counter and get their caffine charge from home?? I can't think of a better "boost" to start anyone's day than a second chance at happiness for a beloved fuzzkid. To All the Shelter Mom's and Dad's you are truly angels on earth, and although it is rarely said, I know I speak for many when I say "Thank You" best to all, Wendi and the fearless foursome ...

Nicole, Oz and Hex-e - Ontario, Canada
Dear Harley "Bug" & Randy, We, being Oz & Hex-e have asked our mom to send these cheques to sponsor 2 ferrets. We want to sponsor the sickest ferrets because they need it most. Thank you for letting us help. We're looking forward to the Frolic - see you there!
Debbie Marcotte - Ontario, Canada: Debbie gave up her comission checks from work to donate to the FAS.
I am donating to The Fas. the 2 sets of fuzzies i am sponsoring are Barbie and Ken the second Bronte & Avery.

Barbie and Ken are very much like Harley in many ways and they entered the shelter when I started to Volunteer. knowing how far they have come amazes me. Bronte and Avery are such lovers and romantics and I am a romantic at heart ..You know Harley was too (Harley and Woozlette or Harley & Princess) and they are probably all together as we speak.

Tara Radford - Utah, USA
I,too have taken the Challenge! Along with my dear friend,Angie Harris of Utah,we have chosen 2 of Charleen Schusters elderly, insulinomic ill ferrets,Valentino & Sassy;)

Char is a WONDERFUL ferret mommy and i have always felt she has been left out because she is not an "official" Shelter.(i have visited her home and it is a wonderful set up) Char has dedicated most of her life to her ferrets.I'm Proud to call her my friend;)

Char opened her loving arms & her home to Dr Delaney-Johnsons adrenal study ferrets & kits and supported the ferrets for over 2 yrs.She provided all the litter, food, playtimes and most of all love;) Adding to her daily chores, taking care of her now, pretty much, disabled hubby,Bob... During those very recent years of the study,Char drove the kits & adults for blood draws when ever requested.Char is now also doing her best to help Wa States newest Shelter,a terrific young woman,Terri Noren has opened, here in North Bend as part of Chris Mathis's PFSN;) I'll be helping too, here in the Olympia,Lakewood & Tacoma areas i hope;) if my diabetes will only "behave" We feel Char deserves a HUGE pat on the back plus extra help and Angie & myself are planning on providing some;)

So Harley Bugglet & Randy,Thank You for this WONDERFUL idea;))) See! Even from Heaven, you are still touching Hearts everywhere! What a lil darling you are;)) Like son, like Mommy;)) XOXO;) You are missed but you "live on;)"

Char,as i know you will be SO EXCITED,a lil hint?? I'm waiting to talk to BJ,so should be any time now... BJ's poor hubby!! Rumor has it that BJ fell in Love once again;)) This time tho, with a new Great Grandson;)) Congrats BJ! Welcome DJ:)) ..and to think at the tender age of 29,you are a Great Gramma! Personally i just know you're "GREAT" (hmmmm wonder what i'll be sending Valentino his first month..LOL:))

Plus i wanted to give credit to my darling buddy,Gail Soldato of Alaska! She has taken the challenge, but has also added a twist;)...She started out this month, providing my terrific Vet (Dr Martha Broda,The Pet Dr, Lakewood,Wa) with HUGE (Tara sized she has named them, fit 8 ferts!:) sleepsacks and hammys for the many ferrets Dr Broda has rescued that clientsjust wanted euthanized for their, the clients...lack of brains! ;(( Having a Vet Practice,a 2 year old "busy" toddler and ready to have her second child in August,Dr Martha has never had time to buy Beautiful bedding, just blankets & towels so Gail has certainly changed that;) We are all,so excited!! Plus? Hidden,in that box... i get some of her famous Alaskan smoked salmon!! WOW! It's MINE i tell ya!

Next month, friends for many years,Kristines Friends of Fuzzies Shelter in Oregon once again will get cage mats & bedding.Gail now supersizes everything! Lots of goodies & such Beautiful work!!! A fun big box;)) Especially for Kristine, who works so hard on the Ferrets Giving Tree Website at Christmas & sometimes gets left out.Not with Gail around, tho;));) Each month Gail will help a different needy Shelter or situation;) Last Christmas Gail was making darling, lively hats for a friend of mine who lost her hair from chemo;)) Thank you Gail !!!!! You are one Selfless, Truly Wonderful woman;)) You too,our Special Angel Angie, who is not "new" to sponsering!! Bless you,BOTH!!!!

Cm'on...lots of needy ferrets could use a "Sponser" Just do what you can each month...won't break anyone! Share the Love! Just call your local Ferret Shelter & see who could use a boost! Lots of sick lil kiddos who need your help! Let Harleys "Angelic Love" help make "The Giving Tree" last all year long;))

Sending lots of Love to all involved, and also those soon to be;))
Tara;)

I was so surprised to open a card Tuesday I received from the ADV card swap to find a note & check for foster sponsorship. Deb C had requested one in observance of the "Harley Challenge".

Her generosity helps Agatha Raisin - one of the Ferret Wise hospice kids who currently resides in the satellite facility St Gregorys House in Manchester. Also home to the final resting place of Pasteur (EHC rescue), and Bear FerretWise & Rocky and more.

Agatha Raisin was one of 4 who arrived in late summer of 2004 She is profoundly deaf -- and a Brat to be truthful. It is not really her ( Agatha's) fault her first family denied her deafness and thus she was not trained. Though at almost 5 years of age there is not a lot of training ground left- hospice Mom Judy perseveres and the bites are turning to nips these days!

Agatha has a companion (cagemate) Crackers 5.5 years who has been lucky enough to be sponsored previously in the fosters program. Both have lost their best ferret buddy recently ( Hamish) and extra TLC has been appreciated. Now they both can freely share a few more treats and licks of ferretone along with the TF food which shelter Mom relays from the shelter to hep feed them and the other hospice kids at FerretWise.

Thanks so much Deb for brightening our day at Ferret Wise & St Gregory's House. I am sure Harley is proud that he has helped one more special shelter kid. Alicia , Agatha Raisin & hospice Mom Judy at www.ferretwise.org
